Crab Apple
A narrow, upright growing tree with attractive dark purple foliage that contrasts beautifully with the mass of magenta-pink flowers in spring. The vibrant floral display is highly ornamental while the small and narrow tree form is ideal for small gardens and planting in rows along fence lines.
Foliage: Emerges dark green then becomes dark purple which is maintained throughout spring and summer. Develops orange tones in autumn.
Flowers: Deep pink buds open to magenta pink flowers in spring, as the foliage is emerging.
Fruit: Small (approx. 1cm) maroon to deep red crab apples pesist on the tree into autumn.
Culture: Adaptable to a range of conditions, but prefers moist, well drained soils in a full sun position. Resistant to powdery mildew.
Size: grows to 5 x 2.5m
